An ancient Chinese therapy, based on the belief that there is a universal life energy called Chi or Qi present in all living creatures, which circulates throughout the body along energy pathways called meridians. Whilst this energy is flowing freely, good health is maintained, but should the energy flow become blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur. Acupuncture is a therapy which works to “re-program” and restore normal functions by stimulating certain points on the meridians in order to release the blockage and liberate the Chi energy.
